Employee Spotlight: Mustan Shafiq Bibi, Software Engineer

At Cloud Construct, we are a talented and fun-loving group. Though we all work remotely from our homes each day, we still maintain a high level of camaraderie through daily conversations, virtual happy hours, and work together days (when safe to do so). 

Get to know software engineer, Mustansar Shafiq Bibi! Mustan started at Cloud in December 2020.  We are excited for you to learn more about his role as a software engineer, some of his favorite foods and sports, and much more!

Cloud Construct: Before working at Cloud Construct, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Mustan Shafiq Bibi: The most unusual job I ever had was while in college, I used to work as a personal trainer.

CC: How do you balance your career at Cloud Construct and family?

MSB: I am very organized, and I plan everything I do. This helps me to easily find a balance between family and Cloud Construct.

CC: What is your favorite sport?

MSB: Cricket and Volleyball

CC: If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cloud Construct, whose job would you want?

MSB: I would like to be a project manager.

CC: If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

MSB: A personal trainer.

CC: What are 3 words to describe Cloud Construct?

MSB: Friendly, Motivating, Flexible 

CC: If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

MSB: I would like to be like my father. I admire the way how he thinks and organizes himself to balance between work and family.

CC: What do you find the most challenging at Cloud Construct?

MSB: Time Management. Settling into a new job and adjusting to new responsibilities could be challenging. I create a daily “to do” list and I break down the tasks to make them seem more manageable. That keeps me organized and helps me be more productive and efficient.

CC: What do you like most about Cloud Construct?

MSB: Different type of projects to work on.

CC: What have you gained from working at Cloud Construct?

MSB: Learning new technologies that I have never worked with before.

CC: What do you like to do on your days off?

MSB: Give time to my family.

CC: What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Cloud Construct?

MSB: Give my best to grow the company and bring more clients.

CC: What is the favorite part about working for Cloud Construct?

MSB: Working remotely for many clients from different fields.

CC: Describe what you were like at age 10.

MSB: I used to open all my toys to see the electronic components in it. I wanted to be electrician at that age. 😊

CC: Any favorite line from a movie?

MSB: And the winner of the defeat is called illusionist (Bazigar 1993). I was 5 when I watched this movie and this line stuck in my head. 

CC: Best vacation you’ve been to?

MSB: Comino - A small island between the islands of Malta and Gozo. We took a cruise to Blue Lagoon where the water was crystal clear. It’s a worth visiting place.

CC: Do you have a favorite newspaper, blog?

MSB: https://web.dev/blog/  It helps me to improve my development skills.

CC: Do you have a favorite quote?

MSB: Be water my friend – Bruce Lee (1971).  Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

CC: If you could meet anyone in the world dead or alive who would it be and why?

MSB: My late grandfather. He raised me with too much love and I have learned a lot from him.

CC: If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

MSB: Chicken and rice.

CC: If you were an animal what would you be?

MSB: I would be a dolphin because I love communicating with others and working as a team. 

CC: If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

MSB: A satellite phone, a knife, and gym equipment.

CC: Motto or personal mantra?

MSB: My personal motto would be: Life is too short; be happy, give time to your family and focus on your goals.

CC: People would be surprised if they knew:

MSB: I used to work as an interpreter in the court and police stations.

CC: What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

MSB: All the life cycle of software development.

CC: What book did you read last?

MSB: Clean code by Robert C.Martin

CC: What celebrity do people think you look like?

MSB: Luis Fonsi 

CC: What did you want to be when growing up?

MSB: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian.

CC: What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime? MSB: Smartphones and social media

CC: What is the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

MSB: A house.

CC: What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

MSB: Interpreter

CC: What is your favorite childhood memory?

MSB: Gathering with my grandparents every summer.

CC: What is your hidden talent?

MSB: I can speak four languages.

CC: What phobias do you have?

MSB: Crocodiles 

CC: What places have you lived in?

MSB: Spain, Malta, Germany, Pakistan.

CC: What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

MSB: I thought about becoming a businessman.

CC: When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

MSB: When I was giving Spanish classes to my wife.

CC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

MSB: I would like to continue learning and sharing knowledge with my team at Cloud Construct.

CC: Where is your hometown?

MSB: I was born in Pakistan and raised in Spain.

CC: Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

MSB: Maldives

CC: Where would you like to travel to?

MSB: Australia

CC: You’re happiest when?

MSB: With family.
