At Cloud Construct, we are a talented and fun-loving group. Though we all work remotely from our homes each day, we still maintain a high level of camaraderie through daily conversations, virtual happy hours, and work together days (when safe to do so).

In this installment of the Employee Spotlight Series, get to know one of our Experience Developers, Justin Tribuna. Learn more about what Justin has learned from working at Cloud, what he does in his free time, and his favorite vacation! Justin has been at Cloud since Februay 2018 and we are so excited for you to get to know him better!

Meet Justin!

Cloud Construct: Before working at Cloud Construct, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Justin Tribuna: I worked at a little local toy store for like five years in my twenties. Part of me misses the freedom of the “if you watch the store, I’ll go buy chips for everyone” atmosphere, but being a death metal guy and listening to children’s music five days a week was pretty rough. Plus, the one time my coworker went to take the trash out, then slipped out back to go on a full grocery shopping trip, took the lax attitude a little too far, especially for a busy Saturday morning.

CC: How did you first learn about Cloud Construct?

JT: An hour or two after I got laid off from my last job, a former coworker from that very same job reached out to me and asked if I was in the market for a new opportunity. I’ve never experienced better timing in my life.

CC: What is your role at Cloud Construct?

JT: I am an Experience Developer.

CC: Describe what you were like at age 10.

JT: Is liking dinosaurs a description? I really liked dinosaurs.

CC: How do you balance your career at Cloud Construct and family?

JT: I don’t have any kids so it’s not particularly difficult.

CC: What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

JT: Mail carriers seem like they get a lot of exercise and pretty decent benefits.

CC: How has Cloud Construct helped you in your career development?

JT: That’s a tough one to answer, although I’ve been working in web/software development for about eight years now, it’s only my second job in the field, so it’s hard to give an answer more specific than “in every way possible.” I suppose this role requires me to be more flexible than at my last job, so I’m learning more tools, design principles, and technologies in general.

CC: If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cloud Construct, whose job would you want?

JT: Maybe one of the project managers. I think it would appeal to my unquenchable need to organize things.

CC: What are 3 words to describe Cloud Construct?

JT: Small, adaptable, versatile

CC: What drew you to Cloud Construct originally? And how has Cloud Construct changed since?

JT: To be honest, I had just been laid off and the opportunity presented itself at the right time. Timing can be crazy sometimes.

CC: What has been your favorite project at Cloud Construct?

JT: Putting together the Jason Belmonte site.

CC: What have you gained from working at Cloud Construct?

JT: Same answer as how it’s helped me in my career development—I’ve learned more tools, technologies, principles, etc.

CC: What is your proudest moment at Cloud Construct?

JT: Probably getting the aforementioned Belmonte site live.

CC: Best vacation you’ve been to?

JT: 10 days road tripping around Iceland and sleeping in a camper van. Plus, that’s where I proposed to my wife.

CC: Do you have a favorite newspaper, blog?

JT: Interestingly enough, I don’t.

CC: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?

JT: John C. Reilly, but they should rewrite it a bit so he’s a plucky scientist who saves the world, and it should be a sci-fi horror movie. It wouldn’t be very accurate, but it would probably be more interesting than a realistic movie about my life.

CC: If you could be anyone from any time period who would it be and why?

JT: Probably some Nordic jewelry maker living in a small village in Viking times or something. These days you can’t really make ends meet bending wires into birds and cutting stones, but back then I bet whoever did that stuff got mad respect.

CC: If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

JT: A marine biologist, or maybe the person who takes care of wounded wildlife at the New England Aquarium.

CC: If you could only drink one beer for the rest of your life, what would it be?

JT: A Belgian quadrupel. I don’t know exactly which one though.

CC: If you could pick one theme for Cloud Construct to turn into a book about the company, what would it be?

JT: Has anyone at the company ever solved a murder mystery? Because if so that would be a pretty cool book about a web design and development firm.

CC: If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

JT: Channa masala with a chai on the side

CC: If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

JT: A knife and two tarps. Nothing’s more versatile than a tarp.

CC: Motto or personal mantra?

JT: It’s never too late to do the right thing.

CC: What book did you read last?

JT: The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin

CC: What celebrity do people think you look like?

JT: I get Luke Wilson a lot.

CC: What did you want to be when growing up?

JT: An inventor, I legit expected to spend all my time in a basement wearing a lab coat and a pair of crazy goggles.

CC: What do you like to do on your days off?

JT: Record music, play video games, and work out. In the before times I’d do a lot of rock climbing.

CC: What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?

JT: Social media, for better or worse
